Bios

Bob Gluck is a multi-faceted pianist, composer, software interface designer and historical writer. His repertoire spans jazz performance integrating electronics, free improvisation, avant-garde concert music and music for electronic expansions of acoustical instruments. Among his performing instruments are the Disklavier (computer-assisted piano), ramıs horn and Turkish baglama saz. His 2005 - 2006 tour featuring solo live-electronic versions of the electric music of Miles Davis traveled to Prague (Czech Republic), Keele (UK), Ottawa, Middlebury (Vermont), San Diego and Irvine, California. Other recent performances and showings of his work have been in Los Angeles, Berlin, Bucharest, Miami, Mexico City, New York City (Flea Theater and Lotus Music and Dance), Montreal, Toronto, Atlanta, Dartmouth College and beyond. His recordings include 'Stories Heard and Retold' (1998) and 'Electric Songs' (2003). About 'Stories Heard and Retold', Michael Bergman wrote in the Berkshire Advocate: "The remarkable wave of sound overcomes the consciousness of the listener transporting him or her to another place ..."

Gluck is also a designer of multimedia installations. His works include 'Layered Histories' (2004), an immersive sound and video environment with Cynthia Rubin and 'Sounds of a Community' (2001 - 2002). His historical writings have been published in Leonardo Music Journal, Organized Sound, Journal SEAMUS, Leonardo, Living Music Journal, The Reconstructionist, Tav+ and at the EMF Institute. Bob Gluck's early musical training began at the Julliard and Manhattan Schools of Music. After years of conservatory training, his musical life dramatically changed after hearing Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Miles Davisı electric bands. He studied electronic music at the Crane School of Music, State University of New York at Albany, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Gluck is Associate Professor of Music and Director of the Electronic Music Studio at The University at Albany, and Associate Director at the Electronic Music Foundation.
Keith Pray Saxophonist and composer Keith Pray is a native of upstate New York. Keith began his study of the saxophone in 1988 at age 15, and had his first professional performance one year later. Since then, Keith has traveled from the West Coast to Europe playing with hundreds of gifted musicians, including some of the giants of the business: Paul Anka, Benny Golson, The Temptations, Ray Vega, Mark Vinci and Ralph Lalama. For 8 years, he resided and preformed in New York City and played with artists from multiple disciplines including R&B, Jazz, Latin and Big Band. Keithıs style can be attributed to the influences from the greats deep in the Jazz tradition, including Cannonball Adderley, Lockjaw Davis, Maceo Parker, Earl Bostic, Johnny Hodges, Willis Jackson and Jackie Mclean.

Now relocated to the Capital Region, Keith performs regularly and teaches saxophone at SUNY Oneonta jazz arranging and jazz history at Schenectady County Community College and band for the Paul Effman Music Service. Having worked on dozens of recordings he was honored to be a featured soloist on the Grammy Nominated Entres Amigos by Alex Torres and the Latin Kings. Keith has performed on ABCıs Good Morning America and The View and Food Networkıs Food Nation, and at The Newport Jazz Festival, 103.1 Smooth Jazz Festival, Albanyıs Tulip Festival, Larkfest, Fleet Blues Fest as well as a featured artist at A Place for Jazz. He has won the ASCAP Louis Armstrong Award and the Essex County Performing Arts Award. Keith is also a member of Musicians Union of Schenectady Local 85-133, BMI, and the International Association of Jazz Educators and he has released three recordings under his own name.
Brian Melick Drummer, multi hand percussionist, and educator Brian Melick has been a featured artist on over 250 commercially recorded works and has been produced by major as well as independent record companies. His recording credits include an expansive list of performers and producers, among them Minu Cinelu, Jamey Haddad, Artie and Happy Traum, Warren Bernhardt, Bridget Ball, Chris Shaw, Larry Coryell, Cindy Cashdollar, Garth Hudson, Nick Brignola, Livingston Taylor, Jorma Kaukonen, Kim and Reggie Harris, Pete Seeger, Edward Villella & The Miami City Ballet, Ringling Bros. & Barnum, Bailey Circus, and many more. He has most recently been a regular performer with Kevin McKrell and the Hard Road Céilidh Band, Maria Zemantauski, The Bernstein Baird Ensemble, Sonny and Perley, Martha Gallagher, TrioLOCO, Soul Session, Cathie Ryan and The New York Players.

Among the producers of percussion instruments who have endorsed Brianıs work and for whom he conducts workshops, performances, and product reviews and field tests are Udu Drum Inc., LP Music Group (Percussion & Hardware), Remo, Inc., Calato Co., Inc., Fredrico Percussion, Rhythm Tech, Paiste Cymbals, Shakka Shakerz, Michael Thiele Hardwood Drums and Impact Cases. Brian plays Frank Giorgini's Udu Drums exclusively. He personally holds three patents for custom percussion instrument stands. As a teacher, Brian has developed a comprehensive educational program, which includes group involvement workshops, lectures, master class, and individual instruction for all ages, as well instructional book and DVD packages and other curricula, including The "How To" of Udu, Percussion Instruments made out of Found Objects, "Playing with Percussion."
